#4

I was pretty worn down both physically and mental due to everything plus dying in the heat every day for hours coaching football. But fall break was great and I feel fully recharged and since football is over I have tons of more time. I feel like have learned a lot since day one. So, I am feeling pretty great emotionally and physically. Plus snowboard is right around the corner! I don’t feel like there are any students that have completely shut me out. So I think I am making some progress even if it is subtle. I try to focus more on relationship building and non-school related things more until I can get them to buy in. Pushing the ‘go to college… you need good grades for college ect’. My plan now that I have more time is to present better and more captivating lessons.

5. I would say I am mediocre at using assessments. I need to use more assessments in my units. I currently use them to arrange seating and to gauge my scaffolding of independent work. I currently use assessments to dictate my seating arrangement, for the most part. I also use it to scaffold the independent work for students at different levels.

Prompt #3

I have been providing the accommodations as prescribed by the IEP. I have two students whom I suspect should be receiving IEP accommodations. I have since notified the appropriate school counselor, and they are supposed looking into it further.

Blog #2

I think with respect to my personality and character, the type of relationships I am building will be really beneficial once I am through with football and can put more energy into getting to know the students and cater to “individual” more.
I haven’t been very good at seating charts and scaffolding for students at different learning levels. This is really because I haven’t done a great job of getting to know the students individually, I really took on too much with coaching football an extra 26 hours a week.
I am using this week break to get very far ahead on Rio Salado work, get things in my life back in order, lesson plan several weeks ahead, and wind down football. At that time I think I can devote much more of myself to reaching students on a more individual level.
